What is BS-Systeme?
BS-Systeme is a software developer based in Zorneding near Munich, Germany, focused on Industry 4.0. We build portals, apps, and IoT platforms for industrial companies — and we operate our own IIoT platform eco2lot, complemented by curated hardware (eco2iot) and the knowledge portal eco2know currently under construction.
What is eco2lot?
eco2lot is an IIoT platform for energy and operational data. It connects sensors, equipment, and ERP systems and delivers one shared view of energy and asset state.
How is BS-Systeme different from a classic industrial software vendor?
Three points. First — we come from the plant, not from software theory: founder Andreas Babel is a trained industrial electronics technician, spent eight years as technical operations lead, and knows the plant from the inside. Second — we are vendor-independent: eco2lot connects sensors from any manufacturer instead of enforcing lock-in. Third — we combine all three stages on one platform: measure, optimize, and AI-driven control. Classic industrial software usually focuses on a single stage only.
Which industries does BS-Systeme serve?
Six end-customer industries with their own industry pages: food and beverage, industrial manufacturing (metal, electronics, machine and tool building), packaging and cartons (corrugated, narrow-fabric weaving, bitumen, technical components), facilities and multi-site (social, administrative, and business portfolios), utilities (water, heat, electricity), and the public sector. Customers in these industries include DMK, Schunk, Plukon, Niedax, TotalEnergies, Krone Group, St. Johannisstift Paderborn, and the city of Kaufbeuren. We also work as solutions partner with machine builders and OEMs who build their own control app on our platform — for example the eco2lot-ELSA® module with MBS-MP GmbH.
Does BS-Systeme only offer products, or also custom development?
Both. eco2lot is our own IIoT platform and the proof that we can build Industry 4.0 software — and it is often the foundation on which we develop custom solutions. For end customers, eco2lot is usually the fastest path. For machine builders and OEMs, we develop white-label apps under their brand with the same platform depth. For special requirements, we also build fully custom portals, apps, and data integrations.
What role does AI play in eco2lot?
eco2lot extends classic visualization with an AI-driven control layer. Learning models forecast peak loads and steer equipment automatically within predefined safety envelopes. This shifts the customer value from "seeing data" to "action without manual intervention" — with full traceability of every action.
Are your platforms vendor-independent?
Yes. eco2iot and eco2lot integrate sensors, equipment, and ERP systems through open standards (Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, Profibus, REST/HTTP APIs) — regardless of supplier. We also connect existing equipment without a full SCADA replacement. Customers stay free to choose their hardware.
Does eco2lot work with our existing equipment and our ERP?
Yes. We connect existing equipment through open standards — from legacy PLCs to cloud-ready machines. On the IT side, data flows directly into ERP, MES, and BI systems. Heterogeneous machine parks and IT/OT integration are standard and part of every delivery. Your operations leads — production, maintenance, or shift management — operate the platform on their own; eco2know provides the necessary knowledge.
Do you also build for machine builders?
Yes. We are a solutions partner for machine builders and OEMs: we develop the custom app for machine control — white-label, under your brand, with the same platform depth as eco2lot. Concrete example: with MBS-MP GmbH & Co. KG we developed the eco2lot-ELSA® module — bidirectional communication, control, and the mobile app for the ELSA® energy-saving system. The machine builder gets a control app that grows with every shipped unit.
How does eco2lot differ from Janitza GridVis and classic energy management solutions?
Classic energy management solutions like Janitza GridVis are designed primarily for measurement and visualization — they show what happened. eco2lot goes one step further: beyond visualization, the platform integrates an AI-driven control layer that forecasts peak loads and steers equipment automatically. eco2lot is also vendor-independent — it connects sensors from any manufacturer instead of enforcing lock-in.
Where is the data hosted, and how is it protected?
All customer data is hosted in certified data centers within the EU, encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest. Backup frequency is daily, with a recovery objective under four hours. Contracts with sub-processors meet GDPR Article 28; data processing agreements are available on request.
What happens if BS-Systeme is no longer around in ten years?
A fair question. Three answers: first — eco2lot uses open standards exclusively (Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT, REST/HTTP APIs). Your data and equipment connections remain technically portable, independent of us. Second — for critical deployments, a code escrow can be arranged: if we ever cease operations, you receive the source code. Third — BS-Systeme has existed since 2010, is a TOP 100 Innovator 2026, and is active in the German Council of Economic Advisors (federal committee on energy efficiency). The plan is to still be here in ten years. But we deliberately build the platform so your plant keeps running without us, if it ever comes to that.
