"As an energy manager, energy management software is my primary tool. Accordingly, I have informed myself in detail about how the solutions of the individual providers differ. Why did I choose Eco²lot? From the very beginning, I had the feeling that the employees were particularly concerned that Eco²lot could also meet all our requirements as a municipality. They analyzed in detail with me which functions were needed, which expansion potentials were available, and also how we could implement this with the hardware and software. I felt well advised throughout the entire decision-making process and continue to find the individual service excellent.
It was also no problem that we don't have our own IT experts at the municipal administration. Andreas Babel personally made sure that we had the necessary infrastructure and that our employees could access Eco²lot in a user-friendly way. Even our mayor has set up his own dashboard and thus informs our citizens about our energy management on a monthly basis. It's super visible how our energy efficiency is improving, we're saving money and protecting our beautiful environment.
Just last week, I used Eco²lot to easily calculate how much money we would safe if we convert our streetlights to LED energy-saving lamps. If every municipality implemented such effective energy management, we would already be one step ahead in Germany when it comes to climate change!"
Energy managers are pioneers.
They deal with a very extensive range of tasks. Their challenges include the introduction, implementation and constant monitoring of the energy management system. Which serves as an instrument to constantly further optimize the company's energy efficiency.
Apart from analyzing the total energy consumption in the company and the individual departments, machines and plants, the energy management officer must also always keep an eye on the market. This includes legal requirements, economic framework conditions, and new innovative technologies that the company can use to optimize its energy efficiency. To this end, the measured values and the derived KPIs and EnPIs must be communicated transparently within the company.
This is the only way to create a basis for anchoring energy efficiency in the organization.
Once this basis of transparency and orientation has been created in the company, the next step should be to convince the employees of the goal energy optimization. As the energy manager has to change the daily habits and mindsets of colleagues towards an energy-efficient orientation, this can be quite a tedious and demanding activity.
For an energy manager, it is necessary to both know and improve the technical details of the operation, keep an eye on the economic possibilities, and observe the legal framework. In addition, there is the communication with the management and also with the employees. Accordingly, the challenges of an energy management officer are very diverse.
